    <summary type="html">yeah, i've been hearing about this debate for years, but this is the first time i've actually encountered it. i have to say, it does seem a lot more genial than i'd always heard.&#xD;

they are pretty amazing-- i certainly rate chomsky and foucault among the most interesting/important/influential thinkers of the 20th century,</summary>

It's interesting to note how hard the moderator tries to set these two at odds, but they keep agreeing with each other. &#xD;
&#xD;
It's also astonishing to me to see how philosophically astute Chomsky is, and how thoroughly Foucault understood Chomsky's work. These are really two colossi.</summary>

just noticed that very debate is used as an introduction for The Foucault Reader ...on pantheon? books... &#xD;
( and if yur on the foucault tribe that link was posted there as well without much discussion )&#xD;
&#xD;
yep, that clip gave me a pretty good picture of the schism between those who go for the juggular /root of the problem ( foucault)&#xD;
 and those who try establish a practical platform in fighting oppression... (chomsky, anarchist syndicalism ) ...&#xD;
&#xD;
in a very very boiled down sense it seemed to characterize the typical french intellect vs. the moral american ... and if only the 2 positions could coordinate an attack simultaneously from both sides in brightly colored spandex tights i think they might have a chance of taking down the empire... at least for one round.&#xD;
